Takeaways and Tunes 2.

Share
Takeaways and Tunes, took place last night. About a month from our first success of this creative event. It was just like the first, an amazing atmosphere of pure relaxation, fun and food. Everyone arrived with their favorite takeaways, mostly consisting of KFC chicken, Subway and some McDonalds.

Everyone sat down to yet another cleverly decorated room, and enjoyed the fellowship while waiting for the evening to begin. I think I'll let some pictures do the rest of the talking  ;)

As everyone begins digging in to their takeaways, the evening now kicks off with the tunes! First off, we had Jono and the jamborees? I think our emcee for the night, Shaun had mentioned that as he invited them up to begin the first set :) unfortunately our lovely photographer did not manage to capture any pictures of the first set, I reckon she was probably just enjoying it too much and forgot to capture some images. Jono and the guys performed really well! They started off with a Jungle Book song, 'I wanna be like You'. A catchy tune that had the audience (and band members) singing along. He then finished off his set doing an outstanding job with another hit song 'Summertime'. An amazing first set!

There was a short break and next up we had a short set with just one song. Joelle and the guys performing the hit song, best known as the theme song for the hit TV Series "Friends". The song was titled 'I'll be there for You'. Also another crowd pleaser being a very feel good song, the audience once again joined in and had fun with it :)

After another short break, we then had Jared with his set :) It was a great set as the crowd just sat back and had a completely chilled time as Jared serenaded the audience. Performing two of his very own chun songs, and one song by Jason Mraz 'The Remedy'. As he finished off his set with The Remedy, not being able to resist, we all joined in again! :D

After Jared's set, we had two very special people come up one by one to share about their experiences as a christian so far. We had Daniel Goh up first. He shared about his amazing month so far as a christian (he received Jesus at our last Takeaways and Tunes!) He shared how things were still new to Him, but that he feels at peace and full of joy now :) Only being a christian for a month, I can honestly say, I have never seen such burning passion for Jesus in someone, after only starting a relationship with Him merely a month ago. Way to go Daniel. I can speak on behalf of everyone when we say how proud we are of you!

After Daniel's testimony, we had our precious Nathalie up next. As she shared openly about her walk with God so far. Her testimony was touching and inspiring for us all as she shared about the love of the Father she has experienced with God. She shared about how she is at peace knowing Jesus is the one person who will never be absent, who helps us with our homework ;) and who will always be there for us no matter what. She shared a great testimony, making us all laugh along the way as well :) Job well done Nathalie!

And last but not least, we had one final awaited set from a guest performer, Darren Ashley of Bus Company. Commissioned by Jared to entertain us with a couple more songs for the night. I'd say it was worth the wait. He performed two songs for us, one being Sunday Morning by Maroon 5, and one of his own written songs, I think it was titled 'Falling Snow'. Everyone had  a blast as they were hearing something completely different than what they were used to hearing at our usual shindigs.

In fact, the audience loved what they were hearing and requested for an encore! Joelle (speaking for myself) was called up to join Darren on stage for a very impromptu performance. A song that takes me way back, and probably some other folk too :) 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' was belted out in a jazzy rendition.

A great way to end our night :) The audience hadn't had enough and our previous performers from the set before were called up to finish off the night with the choice of what the audience wanted to hear :) Oh what a night it was indeed!

That's all folks :) Be sure not to miss the next Takeaways and Tunes that will be happening a month from now, and be sure to catch updates on other cool things happening on our Facebook page. Stay tuned, more awesome nights are gonna happen at THE BURN!

  1. Next Week (Sat 8 May)- What Jesus says about friendship.
Got some friends who have no idea how to be friends? Bring them! Jesus knows what He's talking about, and He has many lessons to teach us on friendship.
